MORRISH MEDAL

The Morrish Medal is awarded each year to the best and fairest player in the TAC Cup for the home and away season.

The Morrish Medal was first presented to the best and fairest player of the VFL thirds competition, which was renamed the VFL Under 19’s in 1959. The Morrish carried over to the TAC Cup competition when it replaced the Under 19 competition in 1992.

The medal is named after Tom Morrish, the long-serving (1922 – 67) VFL reserve grade treasurer who was also a member of the VFL umpire appointment board from 1937 to 1964.

The award is voted by the field umpires in a 3–2–1 format at the conclusion of each match as is used in the AFL’s Brownlow Medal.
