AFL Victoria is pleased to announce the appointment of Geelong 2011 premiership player Tom Lonergan as the new Calder Cannons Talent Manager.
It will be a home coming for Lonergan, returning to the U18 club he was drafted from to the Cats at pick 23 in the 2002 draft.
Lonergan, 34, retired at the end of the 2017 season after 209 AFL games with the Cats and will take-over from Ian Kyte in the role at the Cannons.
“It is great to be able to appoint someone like Tom, who has developed HR and leadership development experience outside his extensive football resume,” AFL Victoria State Talent Manger Paul Hamilton said.
“Tom will bring plenty of knowledge to his new role and it is again pleasing to see a former player from the state U18 competition returning to the club he was drafted from.
“Tom has a first-hand experience of current trends in the AFL, and will be able provide intimate knowledge of what it takes to make it at the highest level. “
